Extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy for stone (ESWL)

Extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWL) is a treatment mostly used to treat kidney stones. We have Dornier ESWL machine, Who are original inventors of this technology. It is based on electromagnetic principle and hence relatively pain free and safe. It breaks the stone in small particles by use of sound waves so that the small tiny particles of stone are passed off through urinary track. The treatment is done on OPD basis and performed in multiple sittings for larger size kidney stones.
After ESWL treatment the person is asked to drink lots of liquid and do jumping exercises for faster clearence of stone fragments. Some patients may need insertion of DJ stent prior to ESWL.
